Hairpiece hairs can be divided in 7 categories: A, B, C, D, F and G, according to the percentage of not human hairs (synthetic, animals, vegetables) present.
Category A contains 100% of human hairs, G contains 100% of non-humans hairs.
Another categorization of hairs Is between Remy and non-Remy hairs.
The Remy hairs, Indian or Indonesian, are pure hairs, not treated, carefully selected for their beauty and refinement (the looks like European ones and for reason this they are considered valuable); after they've collected, they are kept oriented all in the same way, in order to be inserted in the hairpieces with a natural effect and without entanglements. Hair orientation is very important because any clashing orientation will make the hairpiece tangled and hard to comb because.
The quality of hairs and the need to keep them with the same orientation during all the phases of the hairpiece manufacturing, make an increase of price.
Non-Remy hairs are all the other kind of hairs, those which are collected and treated in confusion, since they have to bear many treatments; in order to make this hairs straight and thinner they will be deprived of cuticle, in this way it become easier to insert them in the hairpieces.
Chinese hairs (in general Asian hairs) are three times thicker than European ones; the are straight and of black or dark brown colour.
They are of good quality, much resistant and chemically and mechanically, they are available to lowest cost. Treatments damage them a lot, and this make them incapable to resist to oxidation for more than few months.
The Indian or Indonesian hairs (sometimes defined as Italian hairs) have a structure more similar to ours, that it goes from the thin one to the medium thickness, and they can vary from straight to slightly wavy.
They are of good quality, and above all available in reasonable variety. The treatment is executed to low cost, also because, being thinner and more fragile of Chinese hairs, they need less treatments; they are therefore convenient, especially if hairs chosen are Remy; even if not they are not so cheap at the end the cost is considerably inferior European hairs.
The European hairs (sometimes defined as Russian or Caucasian) are the more suitable to our hairpiece. They are straight or slightly waved, with colours ranging from blond to brown to black.
Usually European hairs are left with its cuticle and the are not coloured, for this reason they will look more natural, smooth and in general terms the will last more.
But they are difficult to find and, for this reason, very expensive.
If, in order to reduce costs, it has been used indian and chinese hairs (not Remy-hairs), the hairpiece will results of poor quality: the removals of the cuticle make hairs too much thin and therefore fragile. Besides this, in case of wavy hairs, they will be treated with consequent weakening of hairs and minor duration in time.
